Possible Inspiration From Venus On The Half-Shell?
editI can't help but get a Venus On The Half-Shell vibe from this episode of Futurama. In one chapter of the book by Philip Jose Farmer (aka Kilgore Trout), the morality of eating intelligent animals is discussed in lengthy detail. Can anyone confirm or deny that the episode was inspired in part by this underrated science-fiction comedy novel? M.Neko
I do not think this should be merged, nearly every episode of futurama has an article and this one just needs to be added to. Raemie 21:00, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
ok i have made an executive decision and remeoved the merge request. i see no reason for it and no one ever reply to my mess age from the 18th so i dont think anyone really cares. Raemie 15:29, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Should the merge notification be removed from the top of the article then? I agree merging the two doesn't make sense, I'll remove it in a couple days if noone objects Stardust8212 13:16, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- Why doesn't it make sense to merge an article about an episode of a TV show and an article about a fictional food / alien race that pretty much only appears in that episode? You might disagree with merging them but saying it "doesn't make sense" is pretty strong words. —Keenan Pepper 13:34, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
- I didn't intend them as strong words, perhaps it would have ben better to say "It doesn't make sense to me" which is true. It would seem more reasonable to merge popplers with the List of Futurama Products since it was a product on the TV show or perhaps to merge with Omicron Persei VIII as popplers are actually the offspring of beings living on that planet. This article only discusses the plot of the episode and links to more information on items found in the episode, such as popplers. Adding extensive discussion of Popplers to the page would make the fomat of this page different from all the other Futurama episode pages which also seems undesirable. The only reason I bring it up at all is because there has been no discussion on the topic since December of last year and that was to disagree with the merge. Since the previous person says they removed the merge request and yet it is still there and no discussion is going on it seems reasonable to take it off the tops of the pages unless someone gives a good argument for why these two should be merged and explains how it would fit with the purpose of this article. I agree both articles need improvement but I don't see this as being the correct solution.
- Okay, fair enough. It makes more sense to me to merge it to Omicron Persei VIII too. —Keenan Pepper 20:33, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

I reverted back to just Plot, as the other episodes all go by the former. Should we change everything to the latter? --Dvandersluis 19:29, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Opening promo
editBefore the opening secuence there is something like a ad for this episode. I dont know what it say in english but in spanish is lomething like "Boron liquido" (Liquid boron) Can anyone confirm this with the DVD?--ometzit<col> 01:21, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Poppler Inspiration?
editIn the trivia section, it says "The "popplers" are based on McDonalds McNuggets." - Aren't they based on KFC's popcorn chicken? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CharlieWaters (talk • contribs) 10:29, 26 April 2007 (UTC).
The Trouble with tribbles
editjust so you know, it references the "trouble with tribbles" episode of star-trek twice, for the exact same reason. I am changing it, if anyone says otherwise, change it back.
Notability?
editWhat's with the Notability warning? All other Futurama episodes have their own article. Why makes this one so non-special? Lots42 04:04, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Someone came through and tagged every episode with that tag. Since then various people for various reasons have removed tags from specific episodes. If you feel that the article meets the criteria at WP:EPISODE then the tag can be removed. If it doesn't then please help improve the article so it does! Stardust8212 12:43, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Soylent
editThe Soylent Green joke is recurring? I only remember it in one post-intro ad. Lots42 (talk) 14:16, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
There was another one in "Fry and the Slurm Factory" and I think there was one in one of the openings, so there are a few mentioned throughout the series.Wild ste (talk) 17:12, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
The Waterfall Family
editThe link from Free Waterfall Jr to the List of Futurama Characters is broken. It doesn't go to the Waterfall Family, because that has been completely removed! There was a section there describing Jr, Old Man Waterfall and others all in one section. Now it is all gone and I can't find it in History. - Bill 04:51, 13 February 2010 (UTC)
Episode number what?
editPlease observe that the opening section identifies this as episode 18 of season 2, the infobox identifies it as episode 28 of season 2, and the list of episodes identifies it as episode 15 of season 2. BobbyPeru (talk) 18:07, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
- I fixed the lead which was incorrect, the episode list is correct, Episode 28 refers to it being the 28th episode overall but I agree the current infobox layout does make this somewhat confusing, not sure how to make it more clear. Stardust8212 18:42, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
