Does this article show up in Google for you?

For just "dubai torch tower", no quotes, no verbatim?

It doesn't for me, at least on the first page. #11, to be precise. Wikipedia's normally right up there for everything, if not first. Might be why there haven't been many drive-by vandals. I sort of hope me saying "dubai torch tower" doesn't help promote this article, but only sort of. Dubai torch tower. InedibleHulk (talk) 08:13, 21 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

We've had a lot of 'tower is torched' kinda vandals. Not sure we should be encouraging them. Secretlondon (talk) 09:57, 21 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
You mean firing them up? Seriously though, they could say the same about "the marina torch", right? "Dubai torch tower" gets about triple the hits. That suggests a lot of decent readers and writers are using that common name, and Wikipedia is somehow falling away. #14 today. Is there any other WP article that shows up 14th? I sure can't find it.
You might say something's...fishy. See? Anything's a pun target. No reason to hide the sum of human knowledge about this building. InedibleHulk (talk) 05:43, 22 February 2015 (UTC)Reply
We're up to #2! Only one to go. Dubai Torch Tower! InedibleHulk (talk) 05:06, 2 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Why do you care? Secretlondon (talk) 14:15, 2 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
No huge reason. Just the way Wikipedia articles are supposed to work in Google. It's a bit weird when they don't. InedibleHulk (talk) 19:28, 3 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Occupancy status?

edit

After the fire, is the building still occupied, or has it been evacuated? What plans have been announced to repair or demolish it? Reify-tech (talk) 17:30, 1 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

101 apartments still down. As of two days ago, they can't return "indefinitely", but hotels are offering twenty free nights. I highly doubt demolition is a viable option, but dumber things have happened. InedibleHulk (talk) 05:00, 2 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
the article makes it sound like the owners of the tower are offering them free accommodation, rather than a few hotel owners offering. Secretlondon (talk) 14:15, 2 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

The image gallery is completely indiscriminate: two of the pictures depict construction at different stages in 2007, and two of them views from the complete building at day and night. I propose one of the construction images be located to the History section, and one of the view shots somewhere in the body of the article, per WP:IG, and the other images removed from the article (they can be accessed in Wikimedia Commons, through the link in the External links section). – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 17:15, 6 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Cladding

edit

Was the cladding flammable (like that on Grenfell Tower), and, if so, why was cheap, flammable cladding used when Dubai is such a rich country? 76.189.141.37 (talk) 03:52, 9 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Because Dubai is the worst city in the world. 71.93.42.17 (talk) 12:02, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
