Speedy Deletion Discussion
editPlease adivse how to improve as to avoid this... speedy deletion notice.
- See WP:BAND. Add references from reliable, independent third-party sources to establish notability. Vicenarian (T · C) 15:44, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
I've included references to several articles on the band from non-trivial sources. As well the band is signed by an international Distribution label, which i'll be linking once i finish this response. The single 'Someone Like You' has also been placed in rotation of a major Sydney, Australia radio station and one of the major stations, Hot 103 in Winnipeg. Is this sufficient? —Preceding unsigned comment added by KungFuTony8 (talk • contribs) 15:53, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Reference your last point on the page. These sources don't have a online archive component that I can find. How do I: 1. Validate these articles. Yes, they're posted on the Judes site, but given the sources lack of an online-archive, I'm curious on how I can validate these. 2. Major station rotation. How do I validate this?
The band's toured internationally and been signed to an international label, with links to Sony and MGM. Can this be rectified by someone at Blue Pie contacting wikipedia to verify the band's noteriety? —Preceding unsigned comment added by KungFuTony8 (talk • contribs) 16:11, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Tell you what, if you can write the article without original research (providing references for everything), it will probably withstand AfD. From the new sources you're bringing in, it seems like it's beginning to meet the WP:BAND threshold. Vicenarian (T · C) 17:31, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
So basically what you're saying is only include information that's been covered by media sources... K, I can do that. Thanks for the advice. KungFuTony8 (talk) 17:34, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Exactly. I would also be diligent in adding inline citations on statements that seem to be original in nature; i.e., "they are known for preferring to tour outside Canada." (Who says they are known for that? Not you, right?) That will help defend the statement from accusations of original research. Vicenarian (T · C) 18:00, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Vic. Much appreciated. Do you have any ideas? I've removed original research as you advised, and moved one of my references as to better verify the point i'm making in the initial section (as to the whole 'new approach thing.) From what I can see, all remaining info is substantiated from the articles. The only thing that's a little hazy is some of the references to In Reverse. This musical project won lead singer Jim Anderson a songwriters award from the junos, but i can't find a media reference. i'll keep looking. —Preceding unsigned comment added by KungFuTony8 (talk • contribs) 18:19, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
- Call me Vice. And don't forget to ~~~~ at the end of your entries on talk pages to sign your name. I've added citation needed tags where I think you need to substantiate your statements. Also, take a look over the writing style and ask yourself, "If I picked up an encyclopedia from the bookstore, is this how I'd expect it to sound?" Right now, it's sounding a little more like a fan page and less like a neutral encyclopedic article. Vicenarian (T · C) 18:36, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the advise. I'll fix it up this evening! KungFuTony8 (talk) 18:37, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
