Valerie's firing

Why did Valerie Harper get fired? She was a good actress. I'll admit I did see an episode from the Duncan era but not the Harper era. Was Harper good or bad? And I only saw part of the last episode of Rhoda.

It was a salary dispute. Harper later sued Lorimar Productions for unfair dismissal/breach of contract and won. Shame though because the series was never as good without her in it. 79.66.41.131 (talk) 04:18, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

ABC Family

ABC Family looks to have pulled The Hogan Family after only one week. Ratings must have been pretty bad.

They confirmed that the ratings were not too good and they will try to find a better timeslot that will best suit the show."

The Hogan Family later years

I don't think The Hogan Family ended in 1991. I think that they ended or cancelled the show around the mid 1990s or so. King Shadeed 17:49, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Technically, it may have been cancelled in 1992, assuming it ran through the entire 1991-92 season. I do think the 1990-91 season was the last one. 71.111.216.239 19:36, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

• I don't think so. I did see the 1993 copyright year on there followed by the 1990 logo of Lorimar Television with the byline (A Time Warner Entertainment Company). When the show was on PAX TV, I did see a later year with the gang playing football on the intro of the show. That means, the show was picked up by Warner Bros. Television. -Either you guys have never heard of GOOGLE (or any search engine), or have very shoddy memories. The series was cancelled at the end of the 1990-91 season. NBC had pulled the plug in 1990, but when it moved to CBS that fall the ratings did not improve. Also, I never remebered seeing a 1993 copyright date on the PAX reruns. Notable episodes section

The first paragraph in this section is overly long and somewhat incoherent, and doesn't even give the episode title. I'm planning on massively editing and reducing it, but thought I'd check in here first to see if someone with a better knowledge of the show than I have can make a better fist of it. I've gone ahead and removed the entire section, as well as stripping back the discussion of very special episodes which followed -- none of these even had titles included, and without a broader discussion of the show's approach it's not clear whether these are radically different to the show's regular approach. I kept in the mention of episode which allegedly first used the word "condom", though this needs a citation. One consequence of this edit is that the second picture now sits rather awkwardly; I've left it in for the moment as someone may provide further cited text in the future. "Valerie" seasons

Will people please take note that the show was "Valerie" for the first TWO seasons, not just one. As the show was a mid-season replacement, the first season was 10 episodes long and ran from March - May 1986. The second season (which was Valerie Harper's last season) ran from September 1986 - May 1987. This page should really be called 'Valerie' with the notation that the title was changed in retaliation for their negotiating feud. Presentation information

A large amount of information about the credit sequence (and in particular the fonts used) has just been added to this article. My instinct is to remove most of this, since it seems like an excessive amount of detail -- information on the production company logo doesn't seem appropriate for Wikipedia. More to the point, it's entirely unsourced. Brief information on the credit sequences used would seem fine, and perhaps a mention of how this was in the style of other Miller/Boyett productions -- but even that would need sourcing. Thoughts? I'm sorry but this Wikipedia page on The Hogan Family is awful and reads like a fan page. Here is one paragraph that is really bad- They also competed for the attention of many girls, except in times where Mark would take up with a classmate who was similar to him, that Willie naturally could not stand. The twins eventually got an after school job at local fast-food chain Bossy Burger. For them, having Sandy around at home and school was a help, as they looked to her as a friend and ally, rather than just as a mother figure. The whole For them part reads like a fan essay and has to go. There is also tons of original research in this article too,so I am going to remove any original research fluff. I just read the big section Production. Production is full of original research, and also the section refers to producers Tom Miller and Bob Boyett as Tom and Bob as the paragraph goes on. I'm going to wait one day and scrap the whole section if no one minds, since there is not a single source for anything and it seems to be written with no facts. The majority of the production section is about Tom Miller and Bob Boyett, and not much about The Hogan Family. I mean we do not have to know every single fart they cut while producing this show. The Tom Miller and Bob Boyett stuff belongs in a article about them,or Miller- Boyett productions, if it can be sourced, and written in a better tone.--BeckiGreen (talk) 20:53, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
