Talk:The Dosadi Experiment

Regarding the Problems section.

edit

I had always thought the difficulty in timing was dealt with via a temporal shift which the Caleban could effect. This would have allowed the experimentors to shift the start date backwards in time, allowing it to come to fruition in their own lifetimes so they might live to see the end of the experiment...

It has been too long, I'll have to re-read to confirm my interpretation.

Love the synopsis, great work! --Arkayik 03:35, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

On the contrary to the previous comment, I think that the chapter by chapter summary is a bit too long and detailed for an encyclopedia entry. Maybe a shorter, less all encompassing summary could be provided. 68.80.46.48 00:59, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Agree far too long and chapter based approach is to unwealdy. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 10:22, 20 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

"one of the few strong female characters in the genre"

edit

Just removed the sentence "Keila Jedrik is one of the few strong female characters in the genre" from that character's description. Who writes this stuff? Have they ever read any other sci-fi? I get the impression that a lot of readers form condescending opinions of genre fiction without ever reading any, so when they actually pick some up and like it, they have to conclude that it's a freak of nature to avoid examining their own prejudices.

My personal annoyance aside, it's an unsourced and unsubstantiated statement of opinion, and doesn't belong in the encyclopedia. Phasma Felis (talk) 00:24, 5 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

This is a horribly written entry, and needs a complete rewrite. Was this the result of some eighth grade class assignment? 99.18.144.29 (talk) 07:09, 27 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

As with many books, too heavy on description

edit

What do we have here: long plot section and character descriptions. Other than that one sentence about the Locus award and an infobox. Not much...TCO (talk) 08:00, 9 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

Similar to Brian Aldiss' Total Environment?

edit

Aldiss wrote a Hugo nominated story Total Environment, concerning an agent who must investigate a sealed, high population density experiment (UHDRE Ultra High Density Research Establishment). The agent is manipulated by Patel, a leader/dictator into ending the experiment.

misses a main point

herbert posits that crowding people together will results in people iwth extraordinary abilities, which turns out to be ture there is a short story, unrelated, where a crew are sent on long insterstellar mission in the theory that having nothing to do for years will allow them to develop extra ordinary abilities the crew does indeed develop into god like creatures who return to earth and iirc wreak havoc — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:192:4700:1F70:49D9:3CBA:54EA:4D54 (talk) 17:34, 11 July 2020 (UTC)Reply
