Just my own opinion here, but this page reads like something only for experts in the art of fishing. It's great that the author knows what he/she is on about, and that comes across clearly, but for an encyclopaedia reader, it's not a very informative article when you're trying to find out what the hell the damned thing is! Wikipedia isn't a grandstand to show off your knowledge. It's supposed to inform.
Diagram?
editI suggest that someone draw a diagram of the Texas Rig. It would clarify the description well. Especially, because the plastic lure is hooked in a very specific way. 72.204.11.114 (talk) 21:20, 14 March 2010 (UTC)
- I can also tie a texas rig and take a detailed picture of it. There are some varistions of this rig too. Different types of sinkers can be used and a bead or not. Also, spinners can also be added too. 72.204.11.114 (talk) 02:05, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Bead
editThe article mentions using beads because they click. However, the main reason I use a bead in Texas and carolina rigs is not for the clicking, but because the bead protects the knot from the metal of the sinker. Also, the concave base of a bullet sinker sits snuggly against a plastic craft bead. I intend to take a picture of such a rig and post it in the discussion for approval. If there's no objection, I'll post it in the article after a day or two. 72.204.11.114 (talk) 02:11, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm an angler, but a UK-based one, and I still haven't got a clue what a Texas rig is Billrush (talk) 02:54, 27 December 2012 (UTC)
