editDo we need to disambiguate "men"? There were only men competing. RickK 03:08, 19 May 2004 (UTC)
Great Britain/Germany doubles
editWhy does Great Britain get a medel but not Germany? This needs to be be changed.
- Great Britain got the gold medal in the singles competition. Neither of the countries is credited with a gold medal for the doubles competition; it went to the legal fiction of the ZZX Mixed Team (as did both the silver and bronze medals in the doubles competition, as well). -- Jonel | Speak 01:56, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Silvermedal
editAnd why does Greece get only one silver medal if they won the single and the double part?O omorfos (talk) 10:15, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- The IOC credits the doubles silver medal to ZZX, not GRE. -- Jonel (Speak to me) 12:01, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- thx for answer but what is a ZZX?O omorfos (talk) 21:47, 14 August 2012 (UTC)

- (ec) IOC code for Mixed team at the 1896 Summer Olympics. Yeah, I know, it doesn't seem to make much sense (hence the note). -- Jonel (Speak to me) 02:29, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

(Sorry for my bad english) Now I understand, why Sports-Reference.com count 18 second places for Greece and the IOC only 17.But if u have a look on the greece side or on german side (if u click "1896" then "Wettkämpfe" and then "Medaillenspiegel" u can see they count 19 second places and 21 third places. if u enter the name Nikolopoulos, Alexandros in the first field they show 3 medalls for him the IOC for Alexandros Nikolopoulos only oneO omorfos (talk) 09:00, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
