closure

edit

I removed the statement that the TRL was closed, as [1] dated November 10, 2005 says it would not be closed. Google for "telstra research lab close" did not get any better results than that. If it really did close, please add a reference to the article as well. --Scott Davis Talk 04:49, 8 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Has this closure been reported officially anywhere!? The nearest I can find with Google is at APESMA's web site, and even that is in passing: [2] --Scott Davis Talk 11:41, 18 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

This is actually a fault with Wikipedia in requiring references from dubious sources such as newspapers rather than someone "who was there". At the date given Telstra ceased to use the words "Telstra Research Laboratories", the vast majority of the staff had left and the buildings vacated and in fact 2 were almost immediately pulled down (I suspect to remove an asbestos hazard). Obviously to announce this formerly would have affected Telstra's share price. Instead Telstra made news of the fact that a small remnant group, led by Hugh Bradlow, would form a "Chief Technology Group" (not certain of name but it was something like this) in Docklands (initially). The fact is the Labs no longer existed in any form, physically or corporately. Bob Backway, moderator xTRL@yahoogroups.com, who has the letters that formed the above words in his historical collection. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.251.15.13 (talk) 00:07, 7 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
