Required OTA?

edit

I've heard mixed answers regarding FCC regulations regarding broadcast networks being required to broadcast over the air as part of their licensing agreements. I would love to see this addressed in this article.

Are there any OTA requirements, or can a broadcast network in a local market exclusively deliver via non-free cable agreements or other non-OTA methods? If there ARE OTA requirements, what are they (coverage, signal strength, content)?

If not, then are local broadcasters of the big 3 or 4 networks completely at their own discretion when it comes to maintaining transmitters and delivering free OTA content (which in some markets may not be as lucrative and cost effective as others). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.221.73.212 (talk) 15:57, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
