Officially "TEGNA"
editIf you look the company up in the EDGAR search engine, you'll see that "TEGNA, Inc." is not just a stylization, but the company's actual, legal name. The article should be moved to reflect this. WizardDuck (talk) 23:17, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
- I disagree per MOS:TMRULES#3 & #4. Number 3 says: Follow standard English text formatting and capitalization rules, even if the trademark owner considers nonstandard formatting "official". Number 4 says: Using all caps is preferred if the letters are pronounced individually, even if they don't stand for anything. For instance, use SAT for the (U.S.) standardized test or KFC for the fast food restaurant. This is just like DirecTV — it is stylized as DIRECTV, but per above, we stylize it as DirecTV. I Have a question why does it say KNAZ & KTFT say owned since 1997 & 2013 when everything else says 2015? These two stations should also say 2015 because Tegna wasn't formed until this year. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:282:403:3c05:f0a7:9757:3d47:4f6a (talk) 03:14, 24 July 2015 (UTC)
- Correct me if I'm wrong but because Tegna is technically the successor company of the split, shouldn't the original dates of ownership/purchase be listed from their original transactions? (Gannett Company, which holds the newspapers is actually the spinoff, and the newly formed company.) Even if not, I would think that for historical purposes, the dates should not change. - @KevCor360: According to information given by Tegna to the FCC when the company bought the three Sander-owned stations, the company was known as Gannett Company, Inc. until June 29, 2015. --Mega-buses (discusión / Talk) 06:01, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
- @Mega-buses:, that is correct. TEGNA was named Gannett Company, Inc. until June 29. After the spinoff, they (the original Gannett) renamed to TEGNA, Inc and the spinoff company (IIRC was named Spinco, Inc at the time it was still held by then-Gannett) renamed to Gannett. TEGNA is the legal successor of old Gannett. New Gannett is brand new. KevCor360 04:14, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
