Propose to rename: Serviceable obtainable market (SOM)
editThe current article title "Target market" is nebulous and ambiguous. In marketing literature and in venture financing circles, what is described in this page is invariably referred to as Serviceable Obtainable Market, or just simply SOM. For some reason, searching for "SOM" or "Serviceable obtainable market" redirects to this page (Target market) - which does appear to be logical. In other words, this redirect should be the other way around
Aspirationally, the target market is Total addressable market (TAM) or (ideally), at least, Serviceable available market (SAM. IMHO, Target market should be (a new page, after this page is renamed) an introduction to TAM, SAM & SOM and this page should be renamed "Serviceable obtainable market (SOM)" – so as to be consistent with, and complimentary to, the other two pages (TAM and SAM). Comments?
