Former good article nomineeTan Duc Thanh Nguyen was a Social sciences and society good articles nominee, but did not meet the good article criteria at the time. There may be suggestions below for improving the article. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

Media sources report his name as being both 'Tan' Duc Thanh Nguyen [1] [2] and 'Tach' Duc Thanh Nguyen [3] [4]. I'm unsure which is correct. -- Longhair 06:22, 15 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you Google both names, you also get two different ages. "Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen" is often described as 23-years-old; while "Tach Duc Thanh Nguyen" is usually described as 27-years-old. FWIW, the 7:30 Report quoted Scott Rush as follows: "The person who recruited me was Tach Duc Thanh Nguyen, by offering me a free trip to Bali". Sarah Ewart (Talk) 07:07, 15 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Tach Duc Thanh Nguyen ABC.jpg

edit

Image:Tach Duc Thanh Nguyen ABC.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

  • Citation needed tags must be fulfilled;
  • Refs 16 and 18 have dead links and should be updated or replaced.
  • If "Criticism of Australian Federal Police tipoff" is indeed relevant to Tan Duc Thanh Nguyen- who is not mentioned - this needs to be made clearer or the section removed if not;
  • The English should be tightened - the use of so many quotations gives the article a journalistic rather than encyclopedic tone - for example the "Sentencing and appeal" section. Also, there are some small mistakes, for example ";.".
  • The lead should be a little longer - it needs to provide an adequate summary per WP:LEAD)
  • The article ought to say more about the man personally - but this sort of thoroughness is not required under the GACR
  • I'm also worried about some bias against the Indonesian authorities. Much is made of his appeals, and that of the Australian government. There is little from Indonesia in this regard. A few tweaks, such as a corresponding quotation or the Indonesian side of the story from a native newspaper would be sufficient.
  • The infobox should be updated.
  • I also raise the same image problems Jezhotwells did at Talk:Andrew Chan/GA1. Under a life imprisonment, he won't be dead any time soon.
Placing on hold for 7 days so these problems can be fixed. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 11:03, 6 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
Failing per 7 day wait and comments made at the nominator's talk page which amount to a withdrawal. Once the issues have been fixed, feel free to nominate the article again - there is no minimum period for good faith nominations. Grandiose (me, talk, contribs) 14:34, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
