Tu expression

edit

Tu is also an expression, commonly used in the United Kingdom. It is used whenever someone makes an avoidable (and terrible) mistake. Mistakes normally are including but not limited to acts of slippery, forgetfulness, mistyping computer commands, pulling the plugs, smashing ketchup and vinegar bottles.

This seems dubious... I'll remove it if there are no complaints (smashing ketchup and vinegar bottles? Although I do not live in the UK, it seems strange rather strange...).

Cleanup

edit

This disambiguation page was marked for cleanup per Mos:DAB. I removed the following entries for non-notability and/or for being dictionary-like (I added a link to wiktionary though):

  • TU clothing, a clothing brand sold in the Sainsbury's supermarkets.
  • Tu is also an expression, commonly used in the United Kingdom. It is used whenever someone makes an avoidable (and terrible) mistake. Mistakes normally are including but not limited to acts of slippery, forgetfulness, mistyping computer commands, pulling the plugs, smashing ketchup and vinegar bottles.
  • TU is also used as an acronym for "tits up", indicating a state of expiration, as in, "my television went TU".
  • Tu is the expression made in reaction to a mistake by those that foresore it. The mistake is usually the result of incompetence or poor reasoning and logic. The expectant observers greet the occurrence of the mistake with a "tu" sound.

I removed (but kept the link) for not belonging on a dab page, but I don't want to create a separate page for this info:

  • As t.u. (in lower case), used as a derogatory reference to the University of Texas at Austin by students and supporters of its arch-rival, Texas A&M University, since they say that the University of Texas is not the university of Texas, but just another Texas university. Students and supports of the University of Texas at Austin respond by saying t.u. stands for The University, implying that Texas A&M is of second caliber.

Someone re-added this derogatory term without discussion here. I removed it again. ThreeE 20:19, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia is not censored. This term and shorter definition (not the same one) was added IAW an FAC review. — BQZip01 — talk 21:39, 20 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

More removed entries:

  • Trilogy University (redlink without incoming links)
  • A shorthand form of writing for Thank You (Thank U)
