CLOAD not a TRSDOS command
editI removed this line:
- CLOAD "FILENAME" is the format for loading tape programs on a TRS-80.
CLOAD was a Level I, II and Disk BASIC command to load BASIC programs from tape, not a TRSDOS command. Nibios 23:29, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Randy Cook
editIs there a good reason why Randy Cook is not mentioned on this page? This page would also benefit from some sort of chronology/version comparison describing what version of TRS-DOS was available for which version of Trash-80. For example, for TRS-80 Model I: TRS-DOS 2.0 -> TRS-DOS 2.1 -> Randy Cook parts with Tandy/Radio Shack -> TRS-DOS 2.2 -> TRS-DOS 2.3 etc Similar for Models III and 4.
As it is, the page is definitely misinforming the reader, since depending on the version of TRS-80, version 1.3 cited wasn't the last version available.
Also, it would be nice if further information would be mentioned about lineage of the OS. I am thinking of things like: Randy Cook parting ways with Tandy half way through writing TRS-DOS 2.2, and started his own OS company VTOS. He licensed the source code to VTOS to LDOS, and LDOS got hired by Tandy/Radio Shack to write TRS-DOS 6 (Essentially enhanced LDOS) for Model 4.
Now, I am not an expert, but all of the above I learned from googling for half an hour, and opposed to reading all of the above in wikipedia. Which is a shame.
Further information:
http://www.trs-80.org/trsdos-model1/ http://www.trs-80.org/trsdos-model1-versions/ http://www.trs-80.org/vtos/
etc. That site has tons of info, including list of reference books (sidebar on the right side) with ISBN numbers, which should help with the validation of the information.
Any way, just disappointed that the Wikipedia article is of such a poor quality. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.240.239.195 (talk) 19:29, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
article name
editThe screen shot at the top of this article shows that the OS refers to itself, both on its splash page and in its prompt, as TRSDOS. Why, then, does the article consistently insert a hyphen into the OS name that the OS itself never used? Is there official Tandy documentation that says the canonical name of the OS is TRS-DOS? 2605:6000:EE4A:2900:907E:B8AD:F6E:9CCA (talk) 07:19, 4 November 2015 (UTC)
- This Radio Shack ad from Computerworld, April 27, 1981, calls it TRSDOS. Unless there is an objection I will put in a request to move the page to TRSDOS. StarryGrandma (talk) 02:41, 6 November 2015 (UTC)
- I corrected the text of the article to use the correct name, but someone with proper authorization will have to move the page to match. 2605:6000:EE4A:2900:907E:B8AD:F6E:9CCA (talk) 05:43, 2 December 2015 (UTC)
- I moved the article to TRSDOS after the redirect by that name was deleted to make way for the move. StarryGrandma (talk) 18:20, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
