The derivation from geostrophic vorticity balance is actually incorrect as currently stated, as it has the wrong formula for Ekman pumping. Sverdrup balance as stated in the formula actually includes the Ekman layer as well.--68.36.160.193 19:22, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

- It sounds like a collection of bullshit. How on earth or anywhere else does air-mass impart motion to air. Any change in pressure automagically transforms into heat exchange and that is before the viscosity of fluids is considered.
- How does Sverdrup conclude, frictional dissipation is negligible when it is the core belief on which Coriolis theory hangs together?
