11/15/2014 Council of Architecture :: Government Circulars http://www.coa.gov.in/judgments/circulars.htm#l6 1/1 Public Notice regarding Unqualified and Unregistered persons practicing as architects Public Notice Beware of Unqualified and Unregistered persons practicing as architects It is brought to the notice of the general public that under Section 37(1) of the Architects Act, 1972, no person other than a registered architect with the Council of Architecture, or a firm of architects shall use the title and style of Architect and / or hold office as an Architect or carry out duties and functions of an Architect (by whatever name called) either in Government or in any other local body or Institution or in private organisation. All such persons who are not registered with the Council of Architecture are hereby warned to stop using the title and style of architect and/or practicing architecture with immediate effect and any violation thereof shall attract penal action as provided under Section 37(2) of the Architects Act, 1972, which may amount to fine or imprisonment or with both. General Public, in their own interest, is hereby informed that only persons who are registered with the Council of Architecture are permitted to practice architecture and to use the title and style of Architect. If any un-registered practitioner (Indian or Foreign National) is noticed, the matter may be intimated to the undersigned for taking necessary legal action. The Council of Architecture is required, by law, to take cognizance of misrepresentation, misuse of the title and style of Architect, and of unauthorized persons illegally practicing architecture. The Council shall initiate criminal proceedings against such offending persons/firms/companies, under Section 39 of the Architects Act, 1972.
