Changing article
editAgreed Hal. I'm in the process of improving this article but may need help in formatting references, most of which come from the OR, i.e. the quotes. User:doyle1876 (talk) 16:16, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
Which raid?
editStoneman led multiple raids during the war and this is arguably not the most famous. His bio says:
In December 1864, he led a raid from East Tennessee into southwestern Virginia. He led raids into Virginia and North Carolina in 1865, took Salem and other towns, and at Salisbury freed about 1,400 prisoners.
and
Stoneman has been memorialized by songwriter Robbie Robertson of The Band, whose 1969 rock and roll song, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, referred to one of Stoneman's 1865 raids.
I suggest you rename this article something like Stoneman's 1863 Virginia Raid. Hal Jespersen (talk) 22:29, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
