Number of survivors - conflicting data

edit

The lead says "He was one of only thirteen survivors from the South Tower impact zone where the plane hit." The body has "They were two of only 14 survivors from above the impact zone in the South Tower to survive the day." Neither statement has a citation. There's Category:Survivors of the September 11 attacks that includes:

  • Brian Clark (September 11 survivor) was with Stanley Praimnath. This article has "Clark was one of only four people in the South Tower to escape from a floor above the plane's impact, escaping from his office on the 84th floor." with no citation. This article adds detail to the narrative that's not in the Stanley Praimnath article including "They were among only four people who managed to escape from above the impact zone in Tower 2. Richard Fern, a Euro Brokers IT manager, was the fourth" sourced to [1].
  • Marcy Borders does not say where she was in the WTC complex. It's possible she was not in one of the main towers.
  • Donna Cuomo does not say where she was in the WTC complex. It's possible she was not in one of the main towers.
  • Salty and Roselle were guide dogs. Salty was with his owner on the 71st floor of the north tower. Roselle was with her owner on the 78th floor of the north tower. Both dogs and their owners were well below the point of impact.
  • William Rodriguez was in the basement of the north tower.
  • Lauren Manning was on the ground floor of the north tower and was severely burned by a jet fuel explosion.
  • Will Jimeno was a cop who was not in the buildings at the time but got caught up in the collapse
  • John McLoughlin (police officer) was another cop not on site initially but was caught in the collapse.
  • Brian Birdwell was at the Pentagon.

The only sourced item is 4 survivors from floors above the south tower's point of impact and nothing was found to help resolve numbers in this article. "They were two of only 14 survivors from above the impact zone in the South Tower to survive the day" seems wrong as we have a source that says there were four people. If "He was one of only thirteen survivors from the South Tower impact zone where the plane hit." is correct then that means there were around 9 survivors from the impact floor and 4 from floors above that floor. --Marc Kupper|talk 23:58, 5 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I found a source that says "Mr. Clark and Mr. Praimnath are two of 18 people known to have escaped from at or above the impact zone in the South Tower"[2] and so am updating the article to use that figure. --Marc Kupper|talk 00:51, 6 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
