Can we get rid of the long list of people of no importance just because they were in somebody's class? Gerry Lynch 21:47, 24 August 2005 (UTC) (St. Mac's 1988-95)Reply

John MacBride

Why did someone remove John McBride?

No idea - he's a fairly famous pupil and should be included before many others who are listed. Puffyshirt 20:58, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Latin based

edit

Because Latin won't be taught in St Malachy's College by the end of the school year, I thought I would add it to the main page. Beanochris 20:27, 1 September 2005 (UTC) (St Mac's 2001-???)Reply

Cardinal William Conway did not attend St Malachy's College; he went to St Mary's on the Glen Road. He did teach in the College briefly. Similarly, of recent bishops Bishop Walsh, Bishop Philbin, Bishop MacRory (altogether covering 60+ of the last 100 years) did not attend St Malachy's. Get your facts right!

I would like to add that the reference made to the school encouraging classical studies laughable. Who wrote that one, Doctor Morrin. I have first hand experience of how far the school will go for those wishing to study classics, it simply doesn’t happen, and is just another case of this out of date school blowing its self righteous trumpet. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Small mats (talkcontribs) 03:16, 22 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Full list of teachers

edit

Is this necessary? Especially the little comments in the margins?

PS - BA is now the school disciplinarian? Scary! You know he'll love all that stuff in the article! Gerry Lynch 17:43, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

St. Malachy's CollegeSt Malachy's College – Over redirect. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Punctuation and spacing. The "St." form is preferred in American English, while the "St" form is used on the other side of the Atlantic (or, as that policy indicates, "Dr." and "Dr"). Most of those listed in Category:Girls' schools in the Republic of Ireland, Category:Boys' schools in the Republic of Ireland, etc. use the form "St X School". The school itself uses the form "St Malachy's College". Newspaper reports which use the form include this (The Irish News), this (The Belfast Telegraph) and this (The Irish Times). 2001:BB6:A93:FE58:9CE7:4466:26D7:E125 (talk) 21:42, 4 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
