Town history
editCan I please request this article be expanded with more information about the history of the town itself? When exactly it was established, how it grew, when the industries came to town, etc.? The article goes straight from "established in the 1910s" (no actual date given) to "then the mill closed in 2006". Additionally, the section detailing the Squamish people is important but it's unclear as to whether they are the inhabitants of the town, simply live nearby, or are merely the town's namesake. Thank you to anyone who can help! 67.8.203.16 (talk) 21:42, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
Town Political Watchdog
editI edited the article to remove a reference to Terrill Patterson, described as the "town political watchdog." He appears to be (or recently have been) a candidate for Mayor of the town, but I don't see any reason to currently include him in the article. Thoughts? --Hansnesse 03:24, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Keep it he is important to the town, he was voted town celebrity (2004 reader' choice award squamish chief) he is widely know in the community and is a political watch dog attends all meetings of council, he was a councilor, ran for mayor and collects bottles (what a recycler!) You are a tard hansnesse. HD 123321 04:23, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- In my view, attendence at town council meetings doesn't make someone more a watchdog than others. He may well be a prominent and popular activist, but that (to me at least) does not seem to warrant inclusion; a great many other people fit that discription and we can not possibly list them all. Wikipedia should not be in the business of handing out titles to people. --Hansnesse 06:18, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- Attending council meetings, running for mayor and collecting bottles is hardly notable and doesn't warrant mention in the article, IMO. Sunray 08:42, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Oh he does more than just attending meetings, he attends all the meeting more than the sleezy mayor, he is a unoficial non partison lobbyist and was previously a councilor in squamish.HD 123321 23:14, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know how many lobbists there are in Canada, but I don't think the place to put them is on the page of the government they lobby. Listing them there seems to make Wikipedia endorsing their politics, when it should be neutral in such matters. Thoughts? --Hansnesse 23:48, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hansnesse you seem silly, clearly there should be town political watchdog. This man deserves to be here HE WAS A FORMER CONSILLOR,that deserves some notice. There is a lot of talk in the town about ask almost anyone in the town who he is they will tell you. He is know for what he does around here.24.82.136.103 01:32, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
- I have to concur with Hansnesse here. Listing a lobbyist would read like an endorsement. It even seems odd to list the mayors for such a small town, but if we have an entry for the town....
- BTW, good work on fighting what appears to be racially-motivated vandalism here, Hansnesse. --Habap 19:28, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
- Agree with Hansnesse. The actions of this individual, at least, as described by the anon (24.82.136.103) above, are not encyclopedic in any way. Sunray 23:43, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Patterson is still an important person in the community and deserves mention of some sort —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.82.121.3 (talk) 02:19, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
He should be linked to the town considering he shaped politics and a huge part of this community. Wolfden222 (talk) 01:54, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
Love on the Side
editWas the film "Love on the Side" filmed in Squamish? It seems the story was set in "Squamish, California." Kdammers (talk) 06:15, 27 September 2020 (UTC)
