Notability
editThis article reads like a glossary entry rather than an encyclopedia article. Furthermore, its title doesn’t imply that it is only about the term used in relation to the US House of Representatives, yet the text of the article effectively limits its scope to that body. Many, many other bodies have speakers, so this seems inappropriate. I don’t think the concept of a "speaker-designate" is WP:NOTABLE enough to merit a standalone article, even if globalized, though. Its edit history since being created in 2006 is short enough to fit onto one page, and the article only cites a single source. If anyone disagrees and can provide reliable sources establishing notability beyond that inherent in Speaker (politics) or Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, then I’d be happy to have a discussion about it here. I’ve added some maintenance tags, and will proceed to a WP:PROD soon if no comments are made here. — Tartan357 (Talk) 22:01, 7 July 2020 (UTC)
Update: I removed the one source, because it is not about the US House Speaker. It’s only an announcement of a Minnesota House Speaker-designate. — Tartan357 (Talk) 22:03, 8 July 2020 (UTC)
