Updates to Address Need for Citations
editI have started making some updates to address the need for additional citations. Looking at the edit history, it appears that most of this page was written by @Marcpostman in 2007, who acknowledged being an employee of STSI. I do not think there are any significant inaccuracies in the content as it stands today, but there is a need to ensure the information is verifiable from external sources. Updates Needed to Correct Inaccuracies and Bring Content Up-to-Date
editThis edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
While much of the content on this page is essentially still valid, it appears that large portions need updating. As an employee of STScI, I hesitate to make all of these changes directly, but am happy to collaborate with someone.
In the interest of keeping things accurate, I have made a few changes directly. These were made on October 21, and include: - Adding reference to STScI's role in science operations for the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope - Updating reference to the Mikulski Archives for Space Telescopes (MAST) - Updating description of activities undertaken by STScI's Office of Public Outreach. (OPO supports informal science education, but no longer develops materials specifically for formal K-12 education.)
If you'd like to continue with updates and references, official sources of information on STScI activities can be found here:
- Official institute website: https://www.stsci.edu/
- STScI's public outreach site for Hubble: https://hubblesite.org/ (includes overview information, press releases, background articles, ebooks, videos, graphics, educational resources)
- STScI's public outreach site for Webb: https://webbtelescope.org/ (includes overview information, press releases, background articles, videos, graphics)
- STScI Role in Hubble, Webb, and Roman missions: https://www.stsci.edu/what-we-do
- MAST: https://archive.stsci.edu/
- History of STScI: https://www.stsci.edu/who-we-are/our-history
- Timeline: https://www.stsci.edu/who-we-are/our-history/stsci-timeline

Running List of Revisions to be made: - Institute logo is out of date. See https://www.stsci.edu/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sifadogash (talk • contribs) 15:14, 2 December 2021 (UTC) Hi Sifadogash, what I'm going to do is create a sandbox page at User:Sifadogash/Sandbox with the article, where you can make changes directly, then propose them section-by-section here for clarity. Please note that for sources, Wikipedia:Independent sources are important (see link for more info), and thus I request that non-STScI sources be used for information that you would be including in the article. I have marked your request as answered, and once you have changes to propose please remove the "|A" in the {{request edit}} template. Best, SpencerT•C 06:07, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
