editUnder whose rules is Toowoomba "not officially part of SEQ" ?? (intro para) 58.174.38.77 (talk) 02:42, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
- I believe most government planning documents exclude Toowoomba from SEQ, placing it in the Darling Downs region. It is probably based on the geographical division created by the Great Divide with the Brisbane River basin forming part of SEQ and the Condamine River basin, to which Toowoomba belongs to, is considered part of the Darling Downs. - Shiftchange (talk) 08:15, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Toowoomba city, an ABS definition is included in SEQ under Government planning. The remainder of Toowoomba Regional Council is not included in SEQ. This can be easily checked in the most recent SEQ plan.
Infobox
editI have a list of state electoral districts which I was going to add to the infobox, however adding them makes the infobox extend past the ext. links section. That is without adding the federal divisions. I guess they can be omitted until the article is more complete. - Shiftchange (talk) 11:08, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Local councils
editAccording to the official page (access in 2020) [1][2], South East Queensland covered ten LGAs: Redland City, Sunshine Coast, Scenic Rim Region, Logan City, City of Brisbane, Moreton Bay Region, Somerset Region, City of Ipswich, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley Region.
Gold Coast and Shire of Noosa are not on the list. These two LGAs were in old South East Queensland Regional Plan 2017. Are there any current (2020) and official sources saying that Gold Coast and Shire of Noosa are in South East Queensland region? Subtropical-man (✉ | en-2) 13:13, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- I would interpret the meaning of that website that GC and Noosa mayors are not member of the Council of Mayors (SEQ). What is commonly called SEQ is IMO correctly described in the article. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 13:47, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- SEQ is an informal geographical concept which is not defined in the ABS's geographical classifications (similar to eg 'Darling Downs' or 'Central Queensland'. The council of mayors of SEQ is just an organisation - it does not constitute any formal geographical definition of the region.--StormcrowMithrandir 23:50, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
Is there a defined area called Regional Queensland?
editDoes Queensland split its state into Metropolitan Capital City Area and Regional Area like the rest of Australia does? Its interesting that SEQ consists of Greater Brisbane + other LGAs that are not part of the capital city metro. Aren't the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast considered Regional Queensland?
