Sicard

Sicard? Can you confirm? I've seen Robert C. Harris (Dalhousie, NB) cred 5 Sept 1870 with a fan blower/auger system, the Railway Screw Snow Excavator. Trekphiler 05:27, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

Thrower? BlCOW

What about a discussion of the term "snow thrower" vs "snow blower". Are they interchangeable or is a thrower a single stage and a blower a two-stage? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 192.77.161.22 (talk • contribs) .

Here in New England, I've never discerned a difference between the two terms, but that may be just me.

Here in the Ottawa area (worse winters than moscow) a "thower" is often considered a small unit - often with a 2 stroke cycle engine, while a Blower is a big one. The thrower is for small lanes or walkways.cmacd 19:50, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Growing up in Montreal, actually in T.M.R., it was always referred to as a snowblower, never snow thrower. Also, are you aware that the Outremont, Quebec page says that that was the first place the snowblower was used? CWPappas 23:02, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Here in Iowa (and I've lived in MN, MT, & ID) I've never heard the term 'snowthrower' used.

Manufactures section

Blower v thrower

The leader currently says:

The term "snow thrower" is often used to encompass snow throwers and snow blowers, however, in proper a snow thrower is a machine that uses a single stage to remove or "throw" snow while a snowblower uses two stages to remove or "blow" snow. [...] Snow blowers can generally be divided into two classes: single stage and two stage.

So "thrower" is often used to encompass throwers and blowers; properly "thrower" is single-stage and blower two-stage; and "blower" can be divided into single-stage and two-stage. Somehow doesn't tally. --Thrissel (talk) 13:20, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

I think the term "snow blower" is confusing or ambiguous, i.e. will the term encompass device that clean snow by blowing air to push the snow away? I've been doing "snow blowing" like that all winter. Arifsaha (talk) 21:08, 8 February 2013 (UTC)

Jet engine cost
