Page moves
editThis page was moved from User:Matt graham/Smart Host as requested at WP:RM ([[Talk:User:Matt graham/Smart Host]]) --Lox (t,c) 09:12, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- Since per that discussion, "smart host" is normally lower case in running text, I moved the article to Smart host, per WP naming conventions. Jonathunder 14:08, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! --Lox (t,c) 21:13, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Awesome dudes! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.152.112.240 (talk) 02:05, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
A picture could be handy
editSo is this correct ? And if it's correct, isn't there a name for the MTA between smart host and mda ?
without smarthost:
MAILCLIENT FROM SENDER---smtp---> MTA FROM SENDER----------smtp---------->MDA FROM RECEIVER---pop3--->MAILCLIENT FROM RECEIVER
with smarthost:
MAILCLIENT FROM SENDER---smtp--->SMART HOST FROM SENDER---smtp--->MTA---smtp--->MDA FROM RECEIVER---pop3--->MAILCLIENT FROM RECEIVER
Or is this one correct:
MAILCLIENT FROM SENDER---smtp--->MTA FROM SENDER--smtp-->SMART HOST-->MDA FROM RECEIVER---pop3--->MAILCLIENT FROM RECEIVER
why 'smart'?
editBut why is it called a 'smart' host? -we tend to call them 'smtp relays' —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.155.42.8 (talk) 15:24, 27 October 2010 (UTC)
Very poor English
edit"They check the if your IP is one from the Open Relay Blacklisted one, dynamic IP.Reverse querying on the IP sent by to find if the domain respond."
I had to read that a few times... I'm still not sure I understand what's trying to be said here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.109.203.144 (talk) 20:59, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
verification needed
editIt looks like the grammatical error mentioned above has been corrected, but the article needs to be checked for accuracy. It has been unreferenced for over 2 years and is linked-to from an external source. Bwrs (talk) 04:13, 27 February 2012 (UTC)
