The Two Bakers

edit

Does anyone know if Colin Baker is related to Tom Baker? Ether way, it should be mentioned in some article somewhere, as it is a bit confusing to have two actors with the same surname play the same character.

They're not related. I'm not sure whether the note should be on this page or on Colin Baker, though, since this page is about the character, not the actor who played him. Other opinions? —Josiah Rowe 07:23, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
I don't think a note is necessary, myself - I don't think there's ever been any significant confusion to any degree. But if there's one, it should probably go on Colin's page. --khaosworks (talkcontribs) 07:44, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Maybe I'm the only one, but I spent quite a while searching the Net for something to tell me one way or the other, but I agree that it would be better mentioned on the actor's page.
I've added a note to Colin Baker. —Josiah Rowe 18:14, 30 October 2005 (UTC)Reply
Apparently it's a common misconception amongst at least some American semi-fans; the topic comes up often enough to warrant a mention somewhere. And yes, the actor's page is the most sensible place for it. It's apparently due in part to some PBS stations skipping straight from Tom to Colin with no explanation. One plus one equals six.--Aderack 11:04, 3 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

He's not. I think there was a note at the top of Tom Baker's page. That or Colin's page. Vincinel (talk) 07:16, 15 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

Inconsistency

edit

The infobox for the First Doctor says that he appeared in four series, despite only having two serials in the fourth. The infobox for this page says that the Sixth Doctor appeared in two, despite his first serial being at the end of a third. Would someone care to explain this inconsistency? I didn't want to change anything for fear of starting an edit war. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.194.106.64 (talk) 02:00, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

It was an unexplained change last year; I reverted it. --Redrose64 (talk) 15:06, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sylvester McCoy

edit

McCoy DID PLAY the sixth Doctor for the purpose of his regeneration in 1987 in Time and the Rani. --Colin Baker (talk) 09:04, 6 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it's mentioned in the appropriate places in the appropriate articles. We don't need to give it undue weight, though. DonQuixote (talk) 11:53, 6 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Just checked this article, and it does need a lot of work done on it, such as a Development section (similar to Twelfth Doctor#Development) where the above can be mentioned. Work in progress.... DonQuixote (talk) 12:16, 6 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Tenure start date

edit

The infobox lists the Sixth Doctor's tenure as starting on 16 March 1984, the date he appeared in the final episode of The Caves of Androzani. For internal consistency within the infobox, and to match the table at The Doctor (Doctor Who) § Actors, I think the date should be 22 March 1984, when the first episode of The Twin Dilemma aired.--Trystan (talk) 18:32, 30 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
