It's not clear to me what this article covers that layering doesn't. It reads a bit more like a how-to, but I'm not seeing anything to make it worth having an article on "simple layering". I'd be inclined to merge, but perhaps the article could be expanded? At the very list, it should have a link to layering and an explanatio of how "simple layering" differs from "layering" in general.
