Improper DAB page
editThis page is a malplaced disambiguation page. If "Sherwood Park" is the name of the main article, then "Sherwood Park (disambiguation)" is the correct title for the DAB page. If there is no page that actually uses "Sherwood Park", but it is only a redirect, then the DAB page should be found at Sherwood Park. I tried to correct this problem by making "Sherwood Park" the name of the article, but some enterprising editor has changed it back. Snocrates 22:43, 27 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm afraid you were the enterprising one here. Communities in Canada follow the comma convention, see Wikipedia:Naming conventions (settlements)#Canada. Please discuss before making the moves. Thank you. --Qyd (talk) 01:10, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how the naming convention justifies this DAB page being malplaced ?? which is what my comments above have addressed. The convention also states: "Cities which either have unique names or are unquestionably the most significant place sharing their name can have undisambiguated titles". "Sherwood Park" is a unique name, and thus no province is needed. Snocrates 01:12, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- Sherwood is a common name, and "Park" a common name suffix. Sherwood Park is not some park, as the name "Sherwood Park" would suggest. "Sherwood Park, Alberta" is clearly a community in Alberta though. Hence the need to stick to the convention. By the way, Sherwood (Edmonton), is a close-by community inside Edmonton. If you think this disambiguation page should go to Sherwood Park, by all means, move it, but don't move the community page there please.--Qyd (talk) 02:03, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, that was the whole point of what I wrote above originally. If the article is not there, it should be the DAB page. Snocrates 05:41, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
