Dubious - opening date

edit

Prior to my edit today, the lede read

The Scenic Daylight was a daytime express train in New Zealand, introduced in 1963.[1] This reference is incorrect. The train was introduced in 1960, and last ran in January 1972.

The edit was made by a non-logged in user (logged IP address) with no citation for the 1960 date. I'd think the "This reference is incorrect" text would belong on the talk page. Rather than revert, I'd edited to show both options, with a few "citation needed" tags.

I wasn't able to find any sources that corroborate the 1960 opening date. This source[2] in the fourth bullet of its "A brief history ..." section, but the site appears to be self-published.

I'd appreciate if some more experienced editors could help with suggestions to clean up this article. Thanks!

Luckily it's my lunchbreak! And it looks like this article needs a serious amount of work done on it... --LJ Holden 23:36, 25 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
Righto, it appears that the service was actually called the Scenic Daylight from 1960, but still steam-hauled until 1963. Makes sense now.--LJ Holden 23:58, 25 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
