Could do with more history and fewer lists - see WP:EMBED FlagSteward (talk) 16:26, 13 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. Parishes could go on a separate page? -LlywelynII (talk) 18:29, 20 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Parishes was tagged for lack of notability two months ago (April 2018). The links, except for four parish churches of architectural importance inside the city of Genoa, are unlinked and unreferenced. The links to towns are to communes, not to parishes, and the communes do not discuss the parishes. The list, therefore, is actually a list of communes in the Province of Genoa, with no notable connection to the diocese. I agree with FlagSteward (June 2008) that fewer lists are needed, and 'Parishes' is ripe for deletion. I do not see what benefit there would be to making it a separate page. It still would not give information about parishes. --Vicedomino (talk) 20:15, 29 June 2018 (UTC)Reply

History

edit

Particularly, the bishops' list is very incomplete towards the front-end. Could use more information on the period prior to the establishment of the Commune when the bishop was solely in charge of the town; and on the medieval tit-for-tat payments that moved the islands out from under the Pisan archdiocese and under Genoa's newly elevated one. See, eg, here and here. -LlywelynII (talk) 18:29, 20 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

FLAG IN INFOBOX

edit

I removed the Italian Republic flag (of 1946) icon from the Infobox, in accordance with several sections of WP:ICON; specifically (quoting),

"Generally, flag icons should not be used in infoboxes, even when there is a "country", "nationality" or equivalent field: they are unnecessarily distracting and give undue prominence to one field among many...." [Genoa was part of the Kingdom of Sardinia, the Italian kingdom of Napoleon, the Savoyard Kingdom of Italy, and under the domination of the French and the Spanish. The Italian flag used was that of the Republic of Italy, not created until 1946f, and since 1984 a secular state without an official religion]....

"Do not rewrite history. Flags should not be used to misrepresent the nationality of a historical figure [including some bishops, who came from several jurisdictions], event, object, etc. Political boundaries change, often over the span of a biographical article subject's lifetime. Where ambiguity or confusion could result, it is better not to use a flag at all, and where one is genuinely needed, use the historically accurate flag."
