Sir Robert??

I can find no source that says he's been knighted. Why do we call him "Sir" Robert Hardy? -- JackofOz 00:11, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

I dont think he is a knight either just a CBE. The Sir was probably added by someone who doesnt understand the Britsh Honours system I shall remove it but if someone verifies he has been knighted I will put it back Penrithguy 19:31, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Long Bow

In June 2009 (perhaps earlier) Hardy appeared on the Military Channel "Greatest Ever" series in a segment including the history and use of the longbow. All Creatures Great and Small

I see that he's listed in the filmography as having been in Making Waves (a minor role in a very short-lived TV series) but there's no mention of All Creatures Great and Small, in which he played a central character for years. Unless the filmography is meant to include only movies (in which case Making Waves would presumably be excluded) this is a surprising omission. Z57N (talk) 11:56, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Spooks

Sir Robert Hardy did appear in "Spooks", second series, episode "Blood and Money". This whas just for one or two brief scenes. But anyway. I'm sorry to say that I don not know the (nameless) title he played. But it was as the "top commander" of Bank of England. Another bankman had problems with Russian maffia and a very large transfer of money. When the problem is introduced to Harry Pierce both these bankmen were present. Character on Lewis

Regarding his appearance on the series Lewis, Season 4 Episode 2 "Dark Matter", the paragraph under "Career" says he played "Lord Malcolm", while the list of appearances under Television says he played "Sir Maecolm", and IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0362735/) says he played "Sir Arnold Raeburn". I haven't seen the episode so I can't say which is correct; can anyone clarify? GCL (talk) 00:06, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

Audiobooks

It appears that Robert Hardy has narrated various audiobooks, but I haven't been able to find a definitive list. Examples include the Aubrey–Maturin series published by HarperCollins and Rumpole of the Bailey published by Chivers Audio Books. The article mentions that Robert Hardy was in the Royal Air Force during WW II. Was he a pilot? Is there any information as to what exactly he did in the military during the war? This would be interesting information for a biography.98.170.198.158 (talk) 04:08, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Mention of WWII in connection with the RAF service appears to have been withdrawn. I recall an interview with the Daily Express in the 1980s at time he was starring in Churchill; the Wilderness Years he mentioned he served in the RAF but only long enough in the war to do pilot training - no mention of operational deployment. Did the service come before his university degree or after? Some undergraduates did defer until completing degrees but others interrupted to enlist. He would have been of induction age (18) in late 1943 and deployable age(19) from 1944.Cloptonson (talk) 19:45, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

The image File:Robert Hardy Daily Mail.jpg was uploaded but then removed. Honestly, let's presume that the image would fail WP:NFCC#2 because Daily Mail fails to credit the author, yet we can treat the image as if it belongs to Daily Mail. BTW, why not adding {{prod}} when removing it? As for WP:NFCC#1, that's a touchy subject for images of recently deceased persons. @Stephen: I'd like to know why you removed this as a non fair use image yet didn't tag it for deletion as such. Given it is currently passing fair use and not even tagged, I'm going to restore the image so that is stays compliant per WP:NFCC#7. @George Ho: The image passes WP:NFCC#1 per a lengthy search using https://search.creativecommons.org (which will check all the usual places for a CC-compatible image), and per #2 this use of the image does not replace the original market role (to illustrate an article on the subject). I'd be ecstatic if someone comes up with free image to be used in place of this one, and will even go as far as deleting the image I uploaded myself -- There'sNoTime ^{(to explain)} 11:15, 7 August 2017 (UTC)

@There'sNoTime: Daily Mail's credibility is questionable, even with its terms of use prohibiting non-personal usage. Hmm... There'sNoTime, I get a feeling that you still want to illustrate the person's appearance, right? The Rex website requires a person to type down a company's name and such, meaning that the image still has some commercial interests. You might want to create some screenshot from one of YouTube videos whose authors placed very little value on user-made screenshots. I don't think mentioning just England is sufficient because that was not the name of the series. They were produced over 3 years, and each episode was independent. The series had no name.
