Weatherby Magnum

edit

Weatherby Magnum as descripted in this article isn't a rifle, but a kind of cartridge used as rifle ammo, according to Wikipedia and other internet sources. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.84.193.2 (talk) 03:47, 15 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

New England city?

edit

I'm pretty sure Roadwork is supposed to take place in the Midwest, and specifically Wisconsin. The only evidence that it might take place in New England is that such a large number of King's novels are set in Maine. But in Roadwork we get numerous references to Chicago (Magliore is there when Bart first tries to contact him, for example) and the letter Bart gets from the city is addressed to M----, W----. There are no states that begin with the letter W east of the Mississippi aside from Wisconsin and West Virginia. College football is a motif, so I'm guessing the story takes place in Madison or Milwaukee, but definitely not New England. 128.192.59.150 14:42, 26 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Concur. I thought I remembered that "M-W" salutation line but I hadn't read the story myself in about 20 years. Good work. Ellsworth 22:21, 6 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Did some general clarification/cleanup to the article. I'm not sure if it's enough to warrant removal of the "needs cleanup" tag, but it's annoying to me that it's there at all on a Stephen King-related article. Any other thoughts on how to improve the article? -Paulbkirk 19:58, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

From The Stephen King Universe book: "Tellingly, King makes a point of never saying precisely what small city or state Barton Dawes calls home (although one could make an educated guess that the story is set in the Midwest, probably lower Wisconsin). His point? That this could happen anywhere, to anyone." But the Blue Ribbon Laundry is connected to Carrie, since Carrie's mother Margaret worked there, so maybe it is another Maine-set story. The result of the move request was: MOVED. Additionally, Roadwork now redirects to Roadworks This seems mostly uncontroversial; the single oppose rationale is disproven by observation of common English usage, re: plural vs singular. Hadal (talk) 16:01, 24 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
