The Roadside Hawk (Buteo magnirostris) is a relatively small bird of prey. Specimens normally range from 31 to 41 centimetres (12 to 16 in) in length and weigh 250–300 grams (8.8–10.6 oz). The Roadside Hawk is common throughout its range: from Mexico through Central America to most of South America east of the Andes. It is well adapted to most ecosystems in its range, and can also be found in urban areas. Its diet consists mainly of insects, squamates, and small mammals, such as young common marmosets and similarly sized monkeys.Photo: Wagner Machado Carlos Lemes

Mistakes in the spanish version, it's Rupornis, not Buteo

edit

Wikipedia in Spanish stubbornly insists on saying that Rupornis magnirostris is actually Buteo magnirostris (even though this is completely false) https://es.wiki.x.io/wiki/Buteo_magnirostris. Can you guys please correct this? Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.61.225.61 (talk) 17:26, 14 August 2019 (UTC)Reply

Trying to write a synonymy of a polytypic species

edit

I am trying to write a synonym on this species, Rupornis magnirostris, which I will use for an example. It is very polytypic, which means that there are many subspecies. Some names belong to one subspecies, some to another, and most to the nominate subspecies. How should this be formatted or presented under the column of Synonyms on Wikipedia? Is there an example of a synonymy of another polytypic species from which I could use to assist me to do this task?

The roadside hawk (Rupornis magnirostris) is a relatively small bird of prey in the family Accipitridae. If is found from Mexico through Central America and in most of South America east of the Andes. With the possible exception of dense rainforests, the roadside hawk is well adapted to most ecosystems in its range. It is also an urban bird, and is possibly the most common species of hawk seen in various cities throughout its range.
