Edit warring to remove sourced historical statistic

edit

@Grsd: Please stop edit warring to remove the historical statistic from 2008. You were initially reverted by @Rjensen: in this edit and you are continuing to edit war to remove the statistic, which in my opinion should be retained as a valuable comparison with census data in the 2008-2019 period. I do not understand why you wish to remove this statistic. Please explain here. Akld guy (talk) 19:37, 14 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

The removed sentence states : ... although regular church attendance was probably closer to 15 percent....
No church attendance data is provided for 2018. Your remark that there is a valuable comparison I hence do not understand. Furthermore, given the changed religious landscape in New Zealand since 2008, this attendance number is obsolete and does not belong in the lede. Also there is no census data for 2008, as you incorrectly state. Grsd (talk) 07:18, 16 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Grsd: But you didn't just delete the 2008 church attendance statistic of 15% did you? No, you deleted the percentage of New Zealanders claiming an affiliation with Christianity, which is a useful statistic to keep. Here is the sentence that you deleted in its entirety:
  • The percentage of New Zealanders claiming an affiliation with Christianity in 2008 was 48%, although regular church attendance was probably closer to 15 percent.[1]
So you lied over what you deleted. And the onus is still on you to justify why this 48% statistic should be deleted. Census data for 2018 may not be available yet, but it's coming. Are you even aware that there have been problems with the delivery of data from the 2018 New Zealand census and it is very much delayed? Akld guy (talk) 10:50, 17 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
Furthermore, I did not state that there was census data for 2008, so I cannot be accused of being incorrect. I meant that the 48% statistic should be retained as a comparison with census data post-2008. Once again you've misrepresented something. Stop your lying. I will ignore the remarks on lying as being not constructive. Can we agree that the figure on church attendance can be removed? Grsd (talk) 12:34, 18 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
For your information, census 2018 data on religion can be found here [2]Grsd (talk) 12:39, 18 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
I checked the link that you keep reinserting. I cannot find either of the two statistical numbers you keep reinserting. 2001:1C00:2711:D800:5C22:329F:2FD4:9693 (talk) 14:22, 18 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
After 2 years of no responses at all, this discussion can be closed. I removed the outdated data Grsd (talk) 11:58, 6 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Mormonism is not Christianity and should be placed in a separate category. 2600:1011:B323:9DE6:55B2:17C0:E25D:610B (talk) 13:06, 7 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

2023 Census data

edit

Today (3 Oct 2024) Stats NZ is due to release another tranche of 2023 census data. I'm working on a new line graph, as per my 2018 version above. I currently have two versions - one is an extension of the 2018 version with 2023 added (including 1991 data), and the alternative drops the older 1991 data and starts with 1996 data. Any preferences? 21:00, 2 October 2024 (UTC) Fanx (talk) 21:00, 2 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
