Rectal prolapse

edit

“This may occur during with straining to defecate, or occur at rest.” This sentence seems to make little sense as written and I suggest that it should be revised. Perhaps something like , “This may occur during defecation, or when straining to defecate, or when at rest.” But that appears to cover all possible eventualities and reduce to, “This may occur at any time.” Dawright12 (talk) 10:28, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply

Does rectal prolapse seriously have any legitimate link to anal sex? I thought the "pink sock" thing was a stupid joke, not something real.

I can link you to a video of it happening through anal sex if you really want.

Please do. To make up my mind on this issue, I will need to see more images of rectums prolapsed from anal bonking. 137.132.250.12 (talk) 16:17, 7 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Seriously and that.. kids is why you don't stick it in the pooper

Bah. A video does not constitute a suitable source. Yes, it's trivial to prolapse someone if you want to, but it is not something that has any significant tendency to occur unintentionally, based on everything I have read and seen so far. The exception being someone that has been prolapsed in the past, which is the case for most of these movies. It's evolved into a fetish genre, you know... :o Zuiram 06:42, 11 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Uh, I was just thinking that it's really not necessary to have an email address on the page. Removing it.

Bah is right. I think the only time prolapsing would even be considered is in the major elderly, perhaps they should refrain from hardcore anal sex (bad mind-picture). For the young and or healthy, there is NO way anal sex is going to cause prolapsing. Trust me, I've seen some MAJOR things going into people's asses. As long as you lube well, you'll be fine. Not sure why so many are anal-phobic. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.101.161.238 (talk) 16:01, 5 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ok, So say someone is strangled (to the point where there are red dots on their face/at the stranglehold, and around the eyes and such). The strain caused by the strangulation, can it cause this type of thing? I don't have anal sex (or at least, not in over a yr), and this is a recent development (ie-this past week I have begun noticing it and it has become seriously aggravating-not painful at all-no itching, no pain...) and was strangled two and a half weeks ago. So, I'm just wondering if this could be caused by strangulation. If anyone's a doctor/nurse, their opinion would be of great help! btw-this isn't something I've ever experienced in my life, so this is a nuissance to me only very recently. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.100.161.93 (talk) 04:19, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Assuming that isn't a joke, maybe you should actually seek out a doctor. And with respect to a picture improving the article, i disagree entirely :P --76.10.154.3 05:10, 29 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

"For the young and or healthy, there is NO way anal sex is going to cause prolapsing."
I certainly don't speak from personal experience here, but I don't think this is true. Rectal prolapse does happen with young people, it's just more common with those who are older. There are plenty of people in their 20's who have experienced it, though whether it's from anal sex or not is questionable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.112.80.8 (talk) 08:57, 29 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

If anal stretching from anal play occurs, prolapses can occur in any age. Happened to me before I was even 18. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.141.96.169 (talk) 06:15, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Given the frequency of on-screen prolapsing amongst porn stars who engage in regular, rough anal sex, that does seem to suggest some anal sex/prolapsing correlation.85.12.16.232 (talk) 15:14, 31 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Anal sex properly done with lubrication should only produce GHS. Fecal incontinence is a symptom of rectal prolapse and GHS, but they're not the same. Are you ready for IPv6? (talk) 03:30, 20 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

How come the more dangerous procedure is done if they are younger?

edit

I have a question. How come the more dangerous procedure is done if they are younger? I mean, I understand why if anyone it would be the younger people, but why perform the dangerous way at all? 76.112.67.33 20:28, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Younger patients generally have less complications than older, so the more effective option is preferred... it is not that the "more dangerous" option is chosen for the young, it is that the "less dangerous" (though less effective) option is chosen for older patients. 86.164.96.216 (talk) 22:57, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Inconsistent source citing

edit

Is there a reason why Anal Sex as a cause for Rectal Prolapse has three citations, while no other cause has any at all? I find it odd that this required such scrutiny, while several equally dubious claims went uncited. --Spankotron (talk) 23:05, 10 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ostensibly because there is a large discussion on this page containing nothing but own-research claims and pornography as citation, and someone wanted to thoroughly put the debate to rest. 182.239.132.14 (talk) 03:50, 1 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sexual act

edit

Provoked rectal prolapse is made as a sexual act. I think this article should cover this practice and its risks. --177.9.91.108 (talk) 15:45, 12 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

I agree. It would be a shame if the lack of good information on wikipedia caused some poor girl to end up like this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.40.238.163 (talk) 00:27, 9 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

Claim by "216.48.161.67" that long term anal penetration leads to rectal prolapse. I personally have not read of this as a cause in any of my textbooks... please provide a reference. I certainly question whether it needs to be first on the list of causes...Tepi (talk) 19:39, 23 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

Merge this article with internal intussusception, mucosal prolapse ? and maybe even solitary rectal ulcer syndrome too

edit

I reworked rectal prolapse article, and started all of the articles above. It strikes me that they are all types of prolapse in the rectal area, and maybe could all be discussed in the one big article called rectal prolapse? I also note that many of the surgical procedures are done for for more than one of the above conditions, so a merger would be appropriate here too. tepi (talk) 22:45, 10 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

also, they share the same causes..tepi (talk) 23:48, 10 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

This article needs some photos

edit

I came here trying to tell if I had one or more of them. (Using a mirror it looks like there is something unhealthy there but I know not what.) And this article only has drawings so I cannot tell. It really needs photos. Are you ready for IPv6? (talk) 03:26, 20 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Then add some yourself! :P I just had a straining poo and might be having the same. Should I upload it? 186.143.161.55 (talk) 03:23, 19 February 2020 (UTC)Reply

Mature stuff, but would anybody mind if I replace Rectal prolaps.jpg with Prolapse_of_rectum_01.jpg? The former seems kind of blurry if you ask me and the lighting makes it kind of difficult. I think the latter is superior. Tutelary (talk) 20:20, 29 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Bearing down

edit

In the signs and symptoms the following is listed: "a feeling of bearing down". What does this mean exactly? It's a little vague and could probably be explained a bit better. Lewdswap (talk) 01:26, 8 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello

This section has fake and incorrect informations about pornography. Aditionally terminology in this section was taken from article where are also fake informations and misstype. I try as best as posibbile explain two problems in this article in this section. I tried to fix them but some one reverse them.

1. First problem is mistype: person who wrote this wiki use rosebud while this is rosebutt. Rosebud is small buttplug with jewelry at bottom while rosebutt is open anus hole with red colon visible but not going out. This mistype was done around 2012/13by amrerican producer on discustion forum adultdvdtalk.com and then one writer from VICE in 2014 repeat this in article. How ever this still is misstype. In 2005 my company Ravenous Entertainment start web page bubdzia.com with rosebutt and prolapse fetish. Alongside with Amazingty and bjextreme web sites this was 3 "pay" sites on the planet with rosebutt fetish. All of them use rosebutt terminology. Aditionally from this time till now works rosebuttboard.com with around 120.000 community members from all world using rosebutt term. Aditional references can be main stream sites like hotkinkyjo.xxx dirtygardengirl.com proxypaige.xxx kinkyniky.xxx piercedaspid.com prolapsequeen.com - on all of them rosebutt is use. This means thousent of produced videos, hundrets thousents of people, history since 2005 against one article in VICE and misstype.

2. Second problem is terminology itself. Person who wrote this say that rosebutt (used by this person incorect rosebud) is same thing what is anal prolapse. This is totally incorect information. Terminology is clear in this (reference link www.rosebuttboard.com/index.php?/topic/29538-xthrogal-prolapse-rosebutt-gape-pucker-guide/) rosebutt is when anus is open and we see flat red inside while prolapse is when colon is falling out. Person who wrote article thinks that is same thing.

I notice that people start use this terminology and when I asked why they say they got it from wikipedia. I understand that this is "just" porn but in my opinion wikipedia should have accurate informations.

Alexthornxxx, reverted again. Use WP:Reliable sources, preferably WP:MEDRS-compliant sources, use proper grammar, and use proper tone; see WP:Tone. Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 23:34, 9 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Split discussion

edit

‎Ozzie10aaaa proposed that the article be split, but didn't start a split section here on the talk page. So I started one. Ozzie10aaaa, how do you think the article should be split? Are you thinking of multiple splits? Is the split suggestion based on what WP:SIZE states? Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 08:19, 12 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

IMO, it seems that
  • Complete rectal prolapse
  • Internal rectal intussusception
  • Mucosal prolapse
  • Solitary rectal ulcer syndrome and colitis cystica profundal
have enough text and therefore information to warrant their own articles--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 11:33, 12 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

They could all have their own articles yes. Particularly SRUS since that is a distinct enough clinical entity (as per brief search of the most modern articles on pubmed, it seems that not 100% of cases are associated with internal prolapse). The first 3 could all be considered as subtypes of the general pathosis of "rectal prolapse". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moribundum (talkcontribs) 14:19, 31 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
