Location of Quartette, Nevada
editI am sceptical of the GNIS location given for Quartette (historical) at 35°25′53″N 114°39′18″W / 35.43139°N 114.65500°W.[1] It is too far distant for the 14 miles of track they are known to have laid down on their main line.[2] It bears no resemblance to the sketch of the route in Myrick, Railroads of Nevada and Eastern California, Vol. II on page 849.[3]: 849 Most importantly no trace of the railroad to the site from Searchlight runs in this direction, and it takes hundreds of years to erase such traces in these desert regions.
My beleif is that the site was off shore from what is now Cottonwood Cove, Nevada. This route matches the sketch noted above and the 14 mile distance including the fish hook loop southwestward around the mountains to the Quartette Mine.Asiaticus (talk) 00:10, 27 July 2015 (UTC)
