Comment
editIt's a start, but there's a lot left to do
- discus other notions of family such as structural family (don't want a religous war here), and enzymatic family (e.g., EC nomenclature)
- pictures showing the relation between sequence conservation and structure?
- list of major families, numbers, and occurence in taxonomic groups
- could add discussion of homeomorphic superfamily
- better list of domain and motif resources
- use and importance is a placeholder
- methods is a place holder
- list of protein families should probably point at list of gene families, although that page is still pretty basic
I hope to be able to get back to this soon, bear with me Gribskov 13:38, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Latin
editThe article says "caveat emptor" but I think it should rather say "caveat lector" if it's going to say anything in Latin. But why not say "reader beware!" in English? There is enough obscure terminology in science without adding to it and it's ironic to find it misused in an article ABOUT terminology! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.111.85.79 (talk) 16:17, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
- I rewrote to remove caveat emptor. Alexbateman (talk) 16:36, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Changed rating to "high" as this is an overview of protein families; it is a stub right now and should be expanded to include a list of known protein families etc. - tameeria 22:23, 18 February 2007 (UTC) |
