I bought a soft furry blanket and it is polyester and it is made in china and I have seen the videos of what they do to animals, and I was not even thinking and bought them, are they moreless made of animals they killed. I know this is a harsh subject but I am a vegetarian and I don't kill anything and I feel very strong about this subject, I really cant believe I did this If this is true. Elizabeth Motis

Hello Elizabeth, polyester is not made out of animals. It is made out of petroleum oil, which is mined out of the ground. You can read more about the process on this article: Extraction of petroleum. Annual petroleum usage in polyester production

A 2015 Forbes article originated the statistic that "Nearly 70 million barrels of oil are used annually in polyester fiber production."[1] The company that Forbes cited appears to no longer be in business, and the veracity of the statistic cannot be verified. Updated data is required. 2604:2D80:E594:3800:60:3D89:AF89:E39B (talk) 14:01, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
