How to handle next year?
editI'm assuming that once the 2018 running starts to get closer, we'll want to set up separate articles for each year's running of the race – 2017 Pegasus World Cup (containing much of the content we currently have on entries and results), 2018 Pegasus World Cup (which would have similar info for next year's runnings) – and then simplify the main article with some less specific stuff about the history of the race, then add in a winner's table that links to the specific years much like we do with say the Kentucky Derby. I don't mind doing the work but want to make sure we're all thinking on the same page(s). Jlvsclrk (talk) 22:40, 7 April 2017 (UTC)
- That makes sense to me. I've actually thought that the list of Derby winners should be a list by itself rather than being in the main article, because it's just so huge, but that's not going to be an issue here for the next decade or so. 😆 White Arabian Filly Neigh 19:58, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
- I'm tempted to wait a few years before breaking the article into separate year pieces -- for example, while Breeders' Cup has separate year articles, [{Breeders' Cup Classic]] does not. I don't see a particular need for a play-by-play of each year for now...I mean, maybe the race will be around 10 years from now, and maybe not... thoughts? (Speaking only for myself, I am fine with the list of KD winners being in the article, though there is a good argument for spinning off the list too... no strong opinions. ) Montanabw(talk) 02:04, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
- I agree we can wait a few years before spinning off the Pegasus to separate articles. I just don't want to lose the detail we have for 2016 when we start to work on 2017, which sometimes happens. I figure there already IS a list article for the Derby - the top four finishers, plus the template that we put in the article of each Derby winner so that doesn't bug me. FYI, I am working on doing the XXXX Breeder's Cup Classic articles but got a bit stalled out over Christmas. Have done 2006-2008 and 2012-2016. Don't want to come across as too fangirly though in the Zenyatta years. Jlvsclrk (talk) 02:13, 22 April 2017 (UTC)
