PathScale's major business was supercomputing interconnect, not compilers.
SiCortex never acquired PathScale's interconnect business. Intel acquired it from QLogic, and that's what the Intel Omni-Path interconnect (OPA) product is based on.
The confusion over names is confounded by the fact that PathScale was kept as a name for the compiler technology.
