Citations for Critics and Defenders

Section discussing critics and defenders of paleo-orthodoxy begins with weasel words ("Some people think...") and makes several controversial claims without citing any supporting references. From what I know of paleo-orthodoxy the criticisms cited in the article are actually not generally made and smack of an attempt at painting it as just another form of fundamentalism. I placed and tags on this section and will leave them up for a while to see if corroboration is added. If not I believe the entire section should be removed as unsubstantiated and not written from a neutral point of view. Pleonic (talk) 21:53, 26 February 2010 (UTC)

I heartily agree. This section stinks like original research. That said, I'm sure there are plenty of critics of paleo-orthodoxy, so methinks the thing to do is rework the section, amending it to agree with actual, cited critics of paleo-orthodoxy. ZoomaBaresAll (talk) 19:56, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Lack of information

Faulty Link

Paleo-Orthodoxy and Radical Orthodoxy

Lacking expertise in this field, it appears on the surface that "Paleo-Orthodoxy" has a similarity to the ideas of "Radical Orthodoxy", both seeking a return to classical Christianity and the teachings of the church fathers. Could someone with some expertise in this field compare/contrast the two theological sensibilities. How do these both relate to the Convergence Movement and to Robert E Webber's call for an "Ancient-Future Faith"? LAWinans (talk) 19:39, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

The Wikipedia entry on "Radical Orthodoxy" says, "The name "Radical Orthodoxy" emphasises the movement's attempt to return to or revive traditional doctrine." This appears identical to the meaning of "Paleo-Orthodoxy". LAWinans (talk) 16:36, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Palaeo- ?

Does the (British) variant palaeo-orthodoxy have sufficient presence to justify including it as an alternative spelling? I have found one article on the net that uses it (Wikipedia History of Christianity). Maxie Dunnam

Maxie Dunnam was added to the list of Paleo-Orthodox scholars that contributed to Ancient & Modern Christianity: Paleo-Orthodoxy in the 21st Century, but he is not listed as a contributor in the book itself. Also there was no reference to identify him as being part of this movement. For these reasons I removed the reference to him -- at least until someone can provide evidence that he does adhere to Paleo-Orthodoxy.

Dunnam is involved in the Methodist Confessing Movement but this is not a sure indicator that one professes Paleo-Orthodoxy. They are separate, though sometimes related, things. Pleonic (talk) 03:14, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
