The name of the field was not Page Field Army Airfield, it was simply Page Field. Army naming of airfields prior to the Air Force becoming a separate service was that fields named after their geographic location were styled [Location] Army Air Field, while fields named to honor an individual were styled [Honoree's Last Name] Field. Although there were a few exceptions to this, Page Field was not one of them.
I agree the article should not have its current name since it never officially went by that name. At the very least, the article should be renamed "Fort Myers Army Air Base" as that is the name it went by. Sanibel sun (talk) 02:47, 13 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
