PNC Park limestone

edit

I noticed that that a contributor uses the phrase "PNC Park also introduced unique features, such as the use of limestone in the building's facade" in describing the architecture. Coors Field, built in 1995, opened six years before PNC Park, incorporated limestone in the building's brick facade.

Pictures Are Too Old

edit

I've noticed that the majority (if not all) of the pictures of PNC Park are several years old. Since then, the center field scoreboard has been modified, and a scoreboard has been placed circling the entire baseline under the luxury boxes. Since this is a rather large visual change, I think new pictures should be added to the article. At least, the first picture of the stadium should be replaced with a more up-to-date picture reflecting the new layout. In addition, those changes are not mentioned in the Alterations section.

Good observations, though I don't know what "center field scoeboard" you are referring to. We're limited to free pictures, so until we get some new ones we can't really do much about that. I hope to be getting to a game within the next few weeks, I'll try to get some. As for the new video boards, we can't really add anything unless we have a source to back it up and though video boards aren't exactly big news, there's probably soemthing on the Pirates' website or Post-Gazette; I'll look and see what I can find. blackngold29 13:41, 19 July 2009 (UTC)Reply
Here's the press release saying they're going to install the scoreboards: [1]. Unfortunately, I can't find anything mentioning them after they were put in, at least on the official site.

I was in the stadium this weekend. The facia scoreboard was definitely added. I can't say if the outfield scoreboard was changed, though. Wkharrisjr (talk) 16:55, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

As mentioned above we're limited in the pictures than can go up.--Giants27 (c|s) 13:40, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply
If someone gets really desparate, they could go to the ballpark and take a few pictures themselves and post them here. :) Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 13:51, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Architect?

edit

The article says the stadium was designed by HOK Sport but the information box lists the architect as Populous, which is apparently the new name for HOK Sport. Should the inof box be changed to HOK Sport as this was the name the company used when the stadium was designed?Wkharrisjr (talk) 17:00, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Label it as HOK and link to the new name. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 18:30, 12 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Statues outside of the park

edit

Editor [Kitch] added a description of the location of the three statues outside of the park, but this was removed as "unsourced". Seem like this is information that should be included in the article, so how can we source it? Wkharrisjr (talk) 15:20, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

The article already states "[the statues] are positioned at various points outside of PNC Park." I don't know how specific we need to be. They're not difficult to find at all. Basically any WP:RS out there that specifically states their locations will do, but like I said I'm not so sure we need to include such specific directions. blackngold29 17:25, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
Calling it "unsourced" is kind of silly, but stating the specific locations could be a problem if they decide to move them and no one catches it. →Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots 23:34, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Negro Leagues exhibit

edit

At the Left Field entrance, there is a permanent exhibit honoring the Homestead Grays and Pittsburgh Crawfords of the Negro Leagues. It's no small thing: there are four life-size bronze statues, interactive exhibits, and even a small movie theater. How come there's no mention of it in a featured article? SteveStrummer (talk) 02:11, 22 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Your point about the exhibit deserving a mention is valid. I added some details on the display in the Alterations section, where it seemed to fit best. Giants2008 (Talk) 20:31, 27 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

FA concerns

edit

This older (2008) FA promotion has accreted some uncited text, as well as some other issues. More specific concerns below:

  • "Major League Baseball executive Paul Beeston said the park was "the best he's seen so far in baseball"" - this is written to seem as a quote directly from Beeston, but the cited source has this as a paraphrase of Beeston, not a direct quote
  • Statista is not RS
  • "Within a two-week period (May 8 & May 22, 2019), Pirates first baseman Josh Bell splashed the fourth and fifth home runs directly into the Allegheny River; the first one is estimated to have traveled better than 470 feet (143 m), while the second traveled more than 450 feet (137 m)." - is not found in the following source and appears to be an uncited accretion
  • Attendance statistics are outdated by about 7 years
  • "Fans seated in the section are allowed "unlimited hot dogs, hamburgers, nachos, salads, popcorn, peanuts, ice cream and pop" for an entire game." - this appears to have changed but I'm having trouble finding a good source related to what exactly has happened
  • "The Pepsi signage in right field was converted into advertising for locally based health insurance company Highmark" - is this necessarily the level of detail we should be getting into here?

And there's likely others; I don't have time to give a full review here. This article has good bones, but to keep FA status some work needs done. Hog Farm Talk 05:20, 17 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Logo is out of date

edit

The ballpark logo in the infobox hasn't been used in several years. The current version is just PNC PARK in the same font as the PNC financial services company, but I can't find an .svg version of it, only a raster graphics version (jpg or png). Would anyone be able to help? Y2Kcrazyjoker4 (talkcontributions) 15:15, 24 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
