1822?
editThe article currently says that "The Original Secession Church or United Original Secession Church was a Scottish Presbyterian denomination formed in 1822". This date does not seem to appear in the sources. As far as I can see: -
1. As stated in Anti-Burgher#Auld_Licht_Anti-Burghers, the Constitutional Associate Presbytery was formed in 1806 by men including Archibald Bruce (died 1816) and Thomas M'Crie the Elder (died 1835).
2. As stated in George_Paxton_(minister)#Ordination_and_secession, the Synod of Protesters was formed in 1820/1 by men including George Paxton (minister) (died 1837) who had left the New Light Anti-Burgher Synod when it united with the New Light Burgher Synod in 1820.
3. Those two groups united in 1827, to form the "Original Secession Synod" as stated in Smith, Auld Licht, New Licht and Original Secessionists in Scotland and Ulster, page 120.
I propose to amend the article accordingly. Alekksandr (talk) 16:56, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
