Theory of the number of Channelers

Could it be possible that decreased numbers of female channelers could be because of a disturbed balance in the Wheel (gentling of males with the spark. Min said in The Crown of Swords: There must be balance in the pattern.

Though I'm not sure it Wikipedia is the place for such a discussion, I thought it was pretty clear that it was just being genetically bread out of the population (with men who channel usually being gentled/killed/committing suicide before they fathered children. Though either way - its original research so unless its explicitly stated in the book somewhere, then it shouldn't end up in the article.Caidh (talk) 14:43, 5 January 2010 (UTC)

The Wheel of Time is about balancing, much like Ying and Yang. I think that was Robert Jordan's inspiration but I can't find any mention of it. The Wheel of Time balances forces, which is specifically used in the last book, the Memory of Light, when Rand's power as a tarvaren grows as the Dark One's touch on the world gets stronger. If there is an imbalance of saidar and saidin, the Wheel of Time will lessen the power of the stronger to correct the balance or raise the power of the weaker, if there is an imbalance of female channelers to male channelers the Wheel will either lower female channelers' numbers or raise the number of male channelers. What Jordan did was raise the overall power of male channelers and lowered the strength and number of female channelers. Channelers

The book is using an in-universe setting, aka it is using a fantasy realm. This means that Jordan has created a universe for his story so there can be a 'continent' especially since there are the Seanchan islands far to the West of the main continent, as well as the various islands scattered around the visible coasts. Sorry mate but you can have a continent and not imply real-world connections, that's actually strange though that you mention 'real world connections' as it has been speculated about the mysterious stone pillars that Rand uses to supposedly travel between possible realities. Not completely true. In general when women heal a normal "simple" healing, they can only heal everything that's in their limit of healing, they can't for example completely heal an arm that's cut of. Only when they have more experience and maybe strength and use different weaves can they target specific things. Men, at least some men, can also target specific things to heal.

Men are forced to use specialized weaves because the generalised healing weave (if it existed) for Saidin got lost in the breaking.

The quick fix weave of the women is the only one that survived the breaking... it's a bug, not a feature. --JaredT 11:23, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
