"Pre-detonation"
editThe section "Possibility of knock caused by excessive oil vapor" uses "pre-detonation" or "pre-detonate" a couple of times, and it links to Engine knocking. However, that article uses the term "detonation" exclusively, and says "Knocking should not be confused with pre-ignition", and the Pre-ignition article cites an Allen W. Cline article that contains
Confusion and a lot of questions exist as to detonation and pre-ignition. Sometimes you hear mistaken terms like "pre-detonation".
It would appear simplest to just change "pre-detonation" to "detonation", but I preferred to start a discussion in case the use of the dubious term might signal deeper issues with the article.
