Traditionally, northerners regarded shells and prawns as bait, but lately they have developed a taste for it, and the freshest and most succulent prawns and shells are easily obtainable all along the coast. doesn't make sense in English. I'm assuming that shells really means shellfish and changing it as such.--JBellis 17:14, 15 October 2005 (UTC)Reply

"All the progress within fishing and agriculture was introduced by Norwegians, making Sami and Finnish ways less attractive." I have heard it was quite opposite: "All the progress within fishing and agriculture was introduced by the Finns." If latter is true, first is clearly disinformation. However, there is no source mentioned.--80.223.215.224 (talk) 12:33, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Northern, Not North

edit

Aside from the point that there should in any case be consistent use of a single term within an article, I think North Norway is a poor translation of Nord-Norge. Granted, North Norway is the most literal translation of the Norwegian term Nord-Norge, but it creates the wrong associations in English. The form "North X", "South X", etc. in English normally indicates an independent country (as in North/South Korea, South Sudan, West Germany), whereas "Northern X", "Southern X" etc. is commonly used for regions within a country (as in Southwestern US, Western Germany, Southern Japan). Northern Norway would also be consistent with the terms used for other Norwegian regions on Wikipedia, as well as title of this very article. I will therefore go ahead and edit the article to reflect this. Maitreya (talk) 10:04, 20 March 2012 (UTC)Reply
