Name change from "American sparrow" to "New World sparrow"

The standard English name for the family Passerellidae is "New World Sparrows". The name is used by all the following:

• IOC has "New World Sparrows, Bush Tanagers: see here
• H&M4 vol 2 p.337 has "New World Sparrows and allies" see here
• Clements Checklist 2019 has "Passerellidae (New World Sparrows)" see here
• Cornell Lab Birds of the World uses "New World Sparrows" see here (perhaps behind a paywall)
• IUCN/Birdlife International has Passerellidae New World Sparrows (based on HBW) see links here
• the AOS (formerly AOU) has "New World Sparrows" - for example 58th Supplement here

Sorry Cabanis was author of the subfamily. The family Passerellidae (this article) was introduced in:

Cabanis used Passerellinae for the subfamily and this establishes the name for all family group names (superfamily, family, subfamily and, I think, tribe). This is the ICZN Principle of coordination. Same applies to genus group names and species group names.

A more significant issue might be use of Passerellidae (Cabanis 1951) over Arremonidae (Lafresnaye 1841), which should have priority. But this is not our concern as we must follow reliable sources. —  Jts1882 | talk  14:44, 10 January 2021 (UTC)
