Robin Haase???

edit

He has earned direct entry to the Olympic tournament, but is not listed on this page... does that mean the Dutch Olympic commitee doesn't let him go?? (as was the case with Sluiter in 2004, if I recall correctly)--Nitsansh (talk) 16:12, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

to be short: yes. That is the case. If you understand dutch, you can see the details here. A rough translation of this:

In a joint statement, issued last Wednesday (June 25), both ITF and IOC will do all that is within their power to get Haase playing at the Olympics. Although he is qualified according to the ITF requirements, the Dutch NOC decided not to send him, because he did not fullfill the Dutch requirements. The main requirement they stated was to play in the fourth round of a grand slam tournament. The technical director of the NOC already before told that Haase would not be the "exception to the rule", (no is no).

In 2004 the same happened to Sluiter. According to ITF he qualified, but NOC did not let him go. The ITF demanded in a reaction to this that at the Bejing games all qualified players have to be send by their NOC. For the ITF this issue is a principle matter. Dudi Sela (ISR) and Denis Gremelmayer (GER) are in the same situation. Miho NL (talk) 18:32, 28 June 2008 (UTC)--Nitsansh (talk) 15:37, 29 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hallo Nitsansh. I noticed that User Miho already replied on your question on my talk page about the nomination of Robin Haase. I imagin that the answer above is at your satisfaction?Pivos (talk) 19:12, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thank you both for your replies. I edited the page "Tennis at the 2008 Olympics - Qualification" and checked all the relevant country pages for information of participants. I will now add Haase and Gremelmayer to the list of "absentees". I would like to have a citation in English on Haase's case if possible.
