Merger proposal
edit- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of this discussion was to merge. - Vanstrat (talk) 21:43, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
Community leagues aren't really a different type of thing from neighbo(u)rhood councils; they're different names for the same thing, not distinct concepts that need separate articles. "Neighbo(u)rhood council", however, is the more common and more general name for it in most places, so it's the one that should be the main article title. Merging the two articles would also aid in resolving this article's lack of substance (and its globalization problems, since some of the examples in "community league" are Canadian ones), although obviously more work would still be needed to make the article a genuinely good one. - Merge - I do agree that community leagues are the same as neighborhood councils. It appears that this is a simple case of the same thing being called different things in different places. - Vanstrat (talk) 21:32, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
- @Bearcat: I think this merge can proceed unless you are aware of any other objections. - Vanstrat (talk) 04:18, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
- In fact, I'd like to make an article about the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues including more about community leagues in Edmonton, but figure that it'd be best if I could assist in cleaning up and merging these pages first before elaborating. - Vanstrat (talk) 04:40, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
Possible Contributions
editTo make the article more informative about what neighborhood councils do and how they function, I believe discussing how the organization is structured in terms of leadership and functioning. How are leaders selected and how do you become part of the neighborhood council?
Also are there any historical events/policies that were passed do to participation and involvement of neighborhood councils ?
Improving the article
editTo improve their article about Neighborhood Councils they need to go into depth more about what Neighborhood Councils do in the local government. They only provided a few examples. Is their more that neighborhood councils do to improve their communities?
Are their neighborhood councils in rural areas? If so, what role do they play in improving the living conditions of their communities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gbogart (talk • contribs) 23:40, 19 May 2017 (UTC)
